Major car hire companies operate car hire options at Granada airport and cars are very readily accessible there. Car hire charges are very reasonable by UK standards and you can arrange your car hire in conjunction with your flight with many airlines, including Ryanair.

Pick up at Granada Airport:
If you need to be picked up at Granada airport for transfer to Casa Pilar Alto, Illora we can happily arrange this. Please tell us in good time of your airline, flight number, flight arrival time and we will arrange the transfer for you and confirm it to you before you depart by e-mail. The cost for this is simply the cost of transfer – normally about 40 Euros, depending on traffic and number of passengers, luggage etc. Naturally, we can also happily arrange for you to be transferred back to Granada airport in good time for your flight home.

Directions from Granada Airport:

Most Direct Route:
If you are collecting a hire car at Granada airport, you leave the airport on the exit road towards the A-92 (Malaga-Sevilla). Turn right onto the A-92 in the direction of Sevilla and take the next exit to go right towards Chauchina, Fuente Vaqueros, Casa Real and Zujaira. At the road junction before Zujaira, turn left and drive through the small town of Obeilar. Shortly after Obeilar, the road turns right under an old bridge and you will shortly see Illora ahead of you.

Route using Major Roads:
If you are collecting a hire car at Granada airport, you leave the airport on the exit road towards the A-92 (Malaga-Sevilla). Join the A-92 in the direction of Granada. Leave the A-92 shortly before Santa Fe and drive through Santa Fe now on the A-329. Shortly before the city of Granada, turn left at a major junction onto the A-432 towards Atarfe and Pinos Puente. Just after leaving Pinos Puente, turn right onto a country road marked towards Obeilar and Illora and follow this road through Zujaira and Obeilar. Shortly after Obeilar, the road turns right under an old bridge and you will shortly see Illora ahead of you.

On arriving in Illora:
You come into Illora on the main road from Granada (Carretera de Granada). You come to a roundabout. Go around the roundabout to continue straight ahead up a hill (signposted towards Alomartes). The road curves around to the left. At this point, there is a café. Do not turn left but bear right to continue up a narrow steep street – Calle de la Carniceria – and you will come out directly facing the 16th century church at Plaza San Rogelio. Turn right into Plaza San Rogelio and follow the road. Immediately after a fairly modern brick faced building, Casa Pilar Alto is on right. There is on street parking at the top of this hill, in front of the brick faced building and at the bottom of Carneceria, where you turned off the road towards Alomartes.

Driving to and from Illora:

On most trips it is likely that you will be driving in the general direction of Granada, at least initially. We advise driving out of Illora on the new road from the San Rogelio statue in the centre of Illora to the A432 (Cordoba road). This road is very new and easy to drive. Once you reach the A432, turn right towards Pinos Puente and Granada. This route is slightly longer than the alternative but also significantly faster and offers better views.

When returning to Illora from Pinos Puente, drive straight through the town, do not take the right hand turn but continue driving on the A432 in the direction of Cordoba until you pass through Ventas de Algarra. Immediately after this village, you will see the sign for the left turn onto the new road to Illora.
